How do you know if you can truly trust anything your government tells you?

After such incidences as Operation Northwoods and MKULTRA (look them up) how can you just assume that your government is doing right. After all the lies and then the truths that spilled out on Wikileaks, how can you just blindly believe everything you're told to be fact? If it was happening THEN it is probably still happening NOW.
