What do you think about the first chapter of my book?

The overall story is good but your wording is somewhat awkward and a little bit cumbersom. There were quite a few places where I had to stop and go back to figure out just what you said. It's a good first draft and a very good subject. keep working on it and I think you could have a winner:)
